| Friends:
I am leading a cruise tour to Alaska next May. If you interested, I have attached information about the trip, including the cruise and tour, an itinerary, and a "coupon booklet."
The travel agent has informed me that there is a deposit sale going on with Holland America beginning July 12th. That means instead of a $600 deposit with Holland per person for the cruise, they will only require $200. In addition, for
that early booking each person will get the discounts noted on the attached "value booklet" document.
The airfare hasn't been finalized but you can budget $900-1000 for the air.
To give you an idea of what other expenses there will be so you can budget accordingly and make an informed decision about the trip. Here are some things to consider:
On board:
o All meals and entertainment is included onboard. Coffee, tea and iced tea are complimentary
with meals.
o Cocktails, casino and shore excursions are additional.
o Land Portion
o Accommodations and taxes included
o All transportation: trains, motor coach and airport transfers
o 6-8 hour Tundra Wilderness Tour at Denali Sternwheeler Discovery tour and
Gold Dredge No. 8 in Fairbanks(lunch included)
So, that leaves us with three breakfast, three lunches and four dinners out of pocket.
Tipping - onboard I would recommend $11 per traveler, per night (this will cover your room steward, head waiter and bus boy). If you have a cocktail or wine the server will automatically include a gratuity.
On land, I would tip the tour director $3 per person, per day. If you have a local driver or tour director, I wouldalso tip them $2 per day.
Feel free to pass this information on to anyone you feel may be interested and give me a call or send an email if you have any questions. Thanks.
